Don't you just miss the occasional hotel indulgence? Like sitting down to a lovely, well-prepared meal at a fancy place, with enjoyment as the only agenda in your mind? Well, Citadines Bay City Manila is bringing hotel-quality food closer to you with their sous vide ready-to-cook meals! Just because you’re stuck at home, it doesn’t mean you can’t relish a fine meal at your own dinner table every once in a while, correct?
The hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, Bay City Café, recently launched their special meals-to-go menu, which includes a selection of sous vide-cooked dishes. Citadines Manila was among the first to respond to our collective hotel food cravings. So if you’re looking for something special like a rib eye steak or mouthwatering ribs, all you have to do is put these ready-to-cook meals into your oven or on your pan, wait for a few minutes, and you’re good to go!
This Pepper Crusted Rib Eye, for instance, took me less than 10 minutes to prepare. I just seared it in the pan, threw in some vegetables as sides, and took out my leftover homemade creamed spinach. The pack comes with a bag of delicious red wine sauce too, which I simply reheated on hot water for about a minute or so. I also uncorked some red wine for good measure.
The steak is so juicy and tender—I enjoyed after bit of it! Of course, make sure you don’t over-reheat it so that it’s still slightly pink (like how I want it), but if you like it well-done—no judgments! I charred the fatty parts too because it’s the yummy and right thing to do! The steak costs only PhP950 and weights 300 grams. A well-deserved treat, don’t you think?
If you love ribs, I highly recommend ordering the Barbecue Baby Back Ribs. Go for the full rack—it is incredibly delicious. I loved how easily the meat falls off the bone. The sauce is so good and would make you reach for more rice. It was not too sweet nor tangy—and though I normally would’ve preferred spicier flavors, this one was still perfectly tasty. I cooked some veggies on butter as well because I love them with ribs.
For pescatarians, there’s the humongous and delicious Honey Garlic Soy Salmon. I just love all the flavors that went here—some acidity, hints of rosemary, saltiness, and sweetness. That huge slab made me full, I honestly did not even eat rice with it. I imagine that it’s perfect with some herby quinoa but I was too lazy to prepare.
If you want something for sharing, get the Lemon Herbed Chicken which is such a steal at PhP336! It’s half a roasted chicken—good for 2 or even 3 persons, I would say. It is BIG. The chicken is moist, juicy, and flavorful, with the accompanying mushroom sauce further enriching each bite.
This mammoth of a pork chop looks attractive as well, doesn't it? At 650 grams, the Cajun Pork Chop is hefty enough to be shared. It comes with apple sauce too to complement the meat. Since it’s pretty thick, I recommend you finish it off in the oven. Otherwise, just be patient and cook it in low/medium heat. Or you can cut it into smaller portions—it’s up to you! And because I’m completely embracing the indulgent vibes, I poured myself a glass of Japanese plum wine—just because.
