The District Boracay Puts You at the Center of the Vibrant Island Scene

The island of Boracay isn’t short of beachfront hotels, but one of them has surely captured your attention in one of your daytime strolls along White Beach. Located in the middle of Station 2, The District Boracay makes heads turn with its imposing façade, bright orange umbrellas, and intriguing rooftop canopy—all nestled right in front of Boracay’s fine white sand and hypnotic turquoise waters.

With its strategic location, The District is a good choice for travelers looking to maximize what the island has to offer. Situated near a smorgasbord of restaurants and bars, a shopping center (D’Mall), and of course, the beach, this boutique hotel is at the center of island activity. Read on to find out more about The District Boracay.

Accommodations

The hotel has 48 guestrooms and suites distributed in the main wing and rear wing. Each room boasts of a calming modern minimalist design and a private veranda, where guests can enjoy a view of either the pool or the beach.

We stayed in a Deluxe King Room (check rates), which is equipped with a King-size bed, a balcony with a pool view, a writing desk, coffee and tea making facilities, and an en suite bathroom. I love the warm tones of the room, making you feel like you’re still basking under the sun. The bed is large and comfortable, with pillows of varying size and softness.

The bathroom is elegant and compact, furnished with a vanity area, a toilet with bidet, and a walk-in shower. It makes efficient use of the space, although I must admit that bigger guys might find it a bit challenging to move around. The toiletries are eco-friendly and especially made for The District. Bathrobes and bedroom slippers are provided.

Instead of bottled water, The District provides water in pitchers—staying true to its eco-friendly practices. Guests can call the front desk should they wish to have it refilled. The resort aims to reduce plastic wastes and contribute in taking care of the island. Actually, they use eco baskets for laundry bags as well. An energy-saving device is also installed in each room to automatically shut off the lights, air-conditioning, and other appliances when the room is left unoccupied. In addition, the hotel operates on solar energy!

Other features of the room include an LED flat-screen TV, a mini-bar, an in-room safe, and complimentary Wi-Fi. It is good to note that booking at The District also comes with daily turndown service (those mini chocolate cakes are soooo good!). Caticlan airport roundtrip transfers are available for an extra minimal charge.

Other Rooms

The Premier Rooms (check rates) are bigger than Deluxe Rooms and are, in my opinion, more elegant and stately. The bathroom is situated behind the bed and has two vanity sinks. The bed faces the sliding glass doors, offering a nice view of the resort.

For families or groups of friends who want to share a room, the two-storey Premier Suite (check rates) is an ideal choice, featuring a loft with a King-size bed, a daybed on the ground level, and two private balconies.

Dining

What I especially love about The District is that they understand that some people who go on vacation do not want to wake up early just to beat the breakfast buffet crowd. As such, they offer two batches of morning spreads for their guests to choose from: breakfast (7:00AM – 10:00AM) or brunch (10:30AM – 1:00PM). Guests can enjoy this at Star Lounge, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant situated on the second level.

Diners can choose from a well-curated selection of breads, pastries, appetizers, and mains, enjoy the soup-of-the-day, and make their own salad from the variety of vegetables, condiments, and sauces. A separate area holds the live cooking station where pancakes, waffles, and pasta are prepared. Don't forget to end your meal with some fresh fruits or special desserts like crepes.

For lunch and dinner, diners can order from Star Lounge's a la carte menu composed of local and international dishes. I highly recommend the Miso-Glazed Salmon and the Ceviche (Kilawin). If you're coming for dinner, check out their special Grill Menu where you can enjoy a 3-course meal composed of salad, soup, and entreeI absolutely love their Rib Eye Steak and the Angus Beef Fillet!

Two more dining outlets are set to open late this year: the Plenary and the House Brew Café.

Other Amenities

Guests can relax in the resort’s swimming pool situated just behind the main lobby. Kids and adults will enjoy doing a few laps here and then soak in the adjoining Jacuzzi, perhaps with a cocktail in hand from Star Lounge’s beverage selections.

The Gym is hidden away near the rear wing, equipped with resistance and cardio machines, dumbbells, and stability balls, as well as towels and drinking water. Although most guests would rather go out and do some sightseeing, there will surely be a few who want to squeeze in a quickie workout into their schedules—The District’s gym is more than enough for that need.

For travelers seeking some island pampering session, the Upperhouse Spa offers a range of treatments designed to relax, indulge, or rejuvenate. Go for the signature Upperhouse Massage, a combination of Hawaiian Lomi-lomi and Thai stretching. Facials, scrubs, and foot treatments are also available.

At the Center of the Vibrant Boracay Scene

If you're a traveler looking for a hotel at the center of it all, make sure you check out The District Boracay and include it in your list of choices. The hotel is perfect for both couples and families, and if you're after maximizing your island getaway, its excellent location is sure to give you plenty of time to enjoy the beach and the wide array of dining and drinking venues nearby. Plus points for the brunch buffet designed for the late risers, and more points for the friendly resort staff.
