Luxurious Indulgence at Flow Spa - Marco Polo Ortigas

City living can be rough on our bodies. The stress of commuting, of spending hours driving in the middle of maddening Manila traffic, of rushing to multiple appointments, may seem bearable, but over time, it may take its toll. The next thing you know, you’re either over-fatigued or burnt out (or both), and you will find yourself unproductive and losing interest in the things you do. For a quick unwinding session, a spa treatment is perhaps the ultimate answer—a massage that not only pampers, but also rejuvenates.

This Christmas season, the stress practically doubles up with all the shopping, traffic jams, and get-togethers, but nonetheless these things lead up to an exciting 25th filled with merrymaking. If you’re looking for an indulgent experience—the perfect gift for yourself this Christmas—check out Flow Spa at Marco Polo Ortigas.

I didn’t know heaven was only 22 floors up until I set foot at Flow Spa. During my hotel staycation, I was treated to an exquisite massage at this luxurious spa. I was instantly awed the moment I entered the waiting lounge: four chairs were positioned in a circular space capped by a dome-like ceiling. The receptionist offered me some hot jasmine ginger tea and gave me waiver form, which requested medical information like surgeries and allergies.

Once my cup was empty, the therapist approached me carrying a box for my shoes and a pair of bedroom slippers. She then led me into the impressive treatment room—a spacious, lavish haven equipped with two massage beds, two high-backed chairs, a sofa, a locker, a vanity area, a shower area, a toilet, and a display of massage oils, scrubs, and other paraphernalia. The entire wall of windows overlooks the city!

This was just one of the 4 treatment rooms at Flow Spa. I couldn’t communicate how fresh and fragrant everything was. Scents of sweet orange and lavender assailed my nostrils. I loved each intricate detail—from the prints on the linens to the contrasting browns and whites to the wall installations. Flow Spa was such a dreamy oasis.

Joyce, the therapist, showed me the features of the room and was gracious enough to let me take my time taking photos before she started the massage. I showered first, and then once I was ready, she asked me to sit on the chair and she began giving me a foot scrub.

I appreciated the fact that she was incredibly careful with my dance-related cuts (LOL), and she gave in to my request not to remove my kalyo as I needed them for dancing, hahaha.

She then asked me to rest face-down on the bed—and began the massage. Joyce is probably the most skillful therapist I’ve ever met. Seriously. Her hands were magic. She attacked all painful and tight areas of my back, shoulders, legs, and arms with her adept strokes.

I got to try the 90-Minute Signature Flow Spa Massage, which features a combination of Western and Eastern techniques, Thai stretching, and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi. Needless to say, it was the best 1 and a half hours of my life. I savored each gliding stroke, each finger pressure, each kneading that my body received.

After Joyce was done on my back, we asked me to turn around and massaged my legs and arms—and then, my favorite part, the neck and scalp massage! I could’ve sworn I dozed off a couple of times because of the goodness of it all, I might have sleep-talked as well, LOL!

I dreaded the massage to end, but there’s no such thing as forever, hahaha. I loved the fact that nobody rushed me to get out of the room. Joyce offered me another cup of tea, and I enjoyed it sitting on the comfortable chair, staring out at the city. I was feeling all relaxed and light—my mind was in a whirl with clarity.

The 90-Minute Flow Spa Signature Massage is regularly priced at PhP3,300—but as part of Marco Polo’s A Crystalline Christmas promos, you can avail it with another person for only PhP5,000.  That’s almost 25% off!

So, if you seek a luxurious pampering session especially this Christmas season, Flow Spa at Marco Polo Ortigas should definitely be in your Places-To-Check-Out list. Consider this ultimate indulgence a gift to yourself (and to your loved one), and if you’re like me who are always bombarded with city stresses, you will certainly want to start off the new year right and welcome 2016 with a renewed body and mind.

Flow Spa offers a wide range of treatments and services like facials, foot and body scrubs, and massages. It is located at the 22nd level of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila.
