Celebrate Halloween with S&R Membership Shopping!

Every year, our office holds a Family Day celebration that always takes place before the Halloween break. Our families are invited to visit our humble office—and kids are required to come in costumes and bring bags or baskets for trick-or-treating. The entire place is transformed into something a kid would liken to a playground: a spooky cave on one corner, complete with bats, webs, and a colleague dressed up as a monster; a creepy hospital where the more unfortunate—and dedicated—officemates lie down all throughout the affair, drenched in fake blood, not moving, pretending to be dead; Mt. Olympus, inside which awaits the Greek gods and goddesses. Every year is a witness to a different gimmick, and it just gets better and better.
Gods and goddesses descend to the Balete tree.
I remember when I dressed up as Poseidon, trying to scare—or amuse—my colleague’s kids, but found any attempt futile. After that, I stopped making a fool of myself and decided to stay behind the scenes. After all, there’s a committee in charge of buying all the sweets and treats for visiting kids—so aside from volunteering to buy the stuff just so I could skip work (LOL), I would befriend the committee and try to eat some of the stuff! Hahaha!
DON'T JUDGE.
We usually do our shopping at the S&R Membership Shopping branch near our office in BGC, since it has almost everything we need. From chocolates, candies, and little toys for kids to snacks for the adults, S&R’s extensive lineup of products has never disappointed us.

I checked out some items for this year and found a bunch of chocolate products on sale, which is perfect for any event or party such as our Family Day. The M&M’s Assorted (PhP699.95) and M&M’s Mix-ups (PhP299.95) are both discounted this month, as well as Tootsie Pops (PhP599.95), Ring Pops (PhP699.95), and Nestle Wonka Halloween Sweets (PhP849.95). As you know, imported items from S&R come in huge sizes, so I’m guessing one of each of the above is enough for more or less 60 kids.

There’s always a short program where in everyone visits each department’s “booth”, as the kids get their sweet treats from us and the adults watch us do silly stuff. It’s always fun seeing timid officemates getting forced to dance or sing or whatever during celebrations like these. After the program, we would head over to the pantry for a simple get-together over food and drinks. Home-cooked pasta always does the trick, but for good measure, ready-to-eat items like S&R’s Rotisserie Chicken and New York Style Pizzas can definitely do the job.

Alcohol isn’t allowed inside the office (to my dismay, hahaha), but once the affair is over and our families have left, it’s time for OUR OWN little party. We go to a bar and drink, or crash someone’s home and party there. Of course, we buy booze from S&R because it offers the lowest prices for the imported liquors!
My favorite section. Oh, have I said this before? :p
I spotted the new limited edition Johnnie Walker Red Label in S&R BGC—and while red isn’t our favorite variant, that handsome bottle is definitely for keeps.

Johnnie Walker Black Label sells at PhP1,004.95 right now in the grocery—imagine how overpriced it is in bars!!! Double Black is priced at only PhP6,559.95 for 4 1L bottles, and Chivas Regal (12 yrs), for those sporting more Daddy-esque tastes, is on sale at PhP2,399.95 for 2! Time to hoard!

It’s not alcoholism—although I doubt myself sometimes, LOL—but a way of patting ourselves on the back for a job well done. What about you? How do you celebrate the Halloween festivities?

It's good to be always ready and armed for any occasion that might happen in the office—whether it’s an official one, or something we just make up ourselves. Haha! Chocolates and booze are, to be honest, my favorite items to check out at this grocery—comfort food that are always guaranteed to give me a good time. The fact that S&R has all these things is definitely my top reason why I #loveSnR.
