Ever since my friend introduced me to S&R Membership Shopping, we've been coming back to the BGC branch for stashes of food and booze. Depending on the intensity of the craving that suddenly hits, we would go back once a month—or sometimes, every pay day (woohoo!). I’m sure that each one of you who is familiar with the warehouse-style grocery gets a weird grumble in your stomach when you think about their New York style pizzas, or with the array of imported chips, chocolates, cheeses, and alcohol options in there! I’m so happy there’s an S&R branch near the office!
Sometimes we couldn’t stop ourselves and would end up buying personal care products and quirky household items as well. In fact, in a recent trip to S&R, I stumbled upon several items that hardcore foodies like me would definitely love—especially those with a passion for cooking! I can’t say I’m a great cook, but with these supplies, I’m sure even the biggest novice among us will enjoy a little tinkering and fiddling in the kitchen. Below are 5 kitchen tools from S&R’s healthy deals (discounted food and household items)—the top 5 I got most intrigued about:
1 | Keurig Coffee Maker (PhP11,859.95 with AVR/PhP8,229.95 no AVR)
When you graduate from relying on instant coffee to provide your daily caffeine fix, there really is no turning back. I myself don’t know what to do with my life when my stock of coffee beans are out—how would I survive my usually groggy, grumpy morning?! This Keurig coffee maker is something I would love to find at home; it can make you a cup of joe, or 4 cups in one carafe. Plus it’s programmable so you can opt for a hot cocoa, latte, or mocha if you crave for something other than the plain black brew.
2 | Simple Touch Ceramic Grill (PhP6,999.95)
Do you like BBQ and steaks? Well, me too! From the rows and rows of appliances at S&R, this grill cooker caught my eye. It would be perfect at home: small, space-saving, and portable, which also makes it perfect for trips. You’ve got to have to have this item to cook your S&R Australian steaks with.
Looks like a lovely dinner, yes? |
3 | Simple Touch Blender (PhP2,399.95)
Now this one’s for my sister (and the likes of her), who’s into health and fitness. This would add up perfectly to all her fitness-related stuff at home—boxing gloves, punching bags (yes, she has one at home), dumbbells, yoga mats, quinoa, yogurt, oatmeal—as she also likes fresh fruit juices. While it’s no juicer, it’s certainly a cheaper, more versatile alternative—as you can also use it to make soups and sauces.
4 | Simple Touch Convection Cooker (PhP2,674.95)
Convection cookers prepare food in less time with more efficiency—resulting in better flavors, faster cooking time, less waiting time, more retained moisture and juiciness with your meats, and more even cooking. I would like to think this is a healthy method of cooking as well—and a smaller substitute to those huge ovens.
5 | Simple Touch Air Cooker (PhP7,695.95)
If you like a somewhat healthier alternative to fried food, you might want to consider getting an air cooker at home. This tool relies of rapid-air technology to cook food faster using little to no oil. In addition, if you’re too lazy to do the traditional frying—you know, waiting for the oil to get sufficiently hot before starting to cook—then this is for you.
It’s great to think that from the seemingly endless rows of shelves at S&R, you can find almost anything you need. From imported food items, fresh produce, and cooking ingredients to personal gadgets, appliances, and kitchen equipment, there is something for everyone at S&R. Now, isn’t that a wonderful reason to #loveSnR?
