The Dessert Junkie: Chez Karine

Chez Karine is a cute little patisserie in Serendra situated right beside Cupcakes by Sonja.

Check out the 7 flavors, available at P55 each.
Incorporating French styles and Asian flavors, the bakery offers artisanal pastries made fresh every day. Products like cakes, dessert jars, pudding, and French macarons entice guests looking from the brightly lit displays. The entire place exudes a very cheerful ambience very conducive to a bit of coffee-and-sweets indulgence.

We went to Chez Karine after a hearty dinner at Paul, unsatisfied because we weren’t able to get dessert. Admittedly, Paul’s humongous macarons priced at P250 each elicited a bit of reluctance, so we crossed over to the Serendra area in search of some late-night munchies.

Bursting from my steak dinner, I bought only two macarons to consume right there: the Red Velvet and the Pistachio. Very Christmas-y combination, I must say, haha!

Chez Karine’s macarons are much chewier than others—the type I like. I don’t like my macaron turning into crumbs when I bite into it. The fillings had just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, I would gladly kill for this Red Velvet.

My bestfriend's nail polish making a cameo appearance.
Unable to resist temptation, I grabbed a slice of the Dark Chocolate Cake as well. Rich and moist, the cake was light and exquisite, not cloyingly sweet, and perfect with the Americano I ordered. Damn, I wish all nights were like this.
