A few months back, while searching for restaurants in The Fort, I discovered the website Zomato and was greeted by a moving banner with pictures of scrumptious-looking food -- I instantly fell in love with it and knew then that I would be revisiting this site very often. I am such a fan of minimalist design, and theirs -- dominated by boxes of red, black, and white -- surely captured my taste.
Like ClickTheCity and Munchpunch, Zomato is an online directory for restaurants organized by location, cuisine, or budget. But more than being just a restaurant repository, it aims to provide a venue for the foodie community to discover cool new places to eat and share their experiences with fellow food lovers through user reviews.
Immediately, I signed up so I could write some reviews myself, beginning with my favorite restaurants. A few days after, I received a mail from Zomato saying that my review for Old Vine Grille has been featured and that I was the week’s winner for their Write for a Bite contest! Imagine how thrilled I was! Two weeks later, I received a Zomato voucher via snail mail—P500 for Dillinger’s 1903 Steak and Brew! How cool is that?!

It was already 11pm and I haven’t had my dinner, so I was famished. Without shilly-shallying, I ordered the USDA Black Angus Rib-Eye Steak! Who else but me eats steaks at midnight? Haha! Aleli got herself the All-American Burger. Yes, we were two hungry carnivores!

When our food arrived, it wasn’t only our eyes that went huge but also those of our neighboring customers (I guess they were wondering how the hell we could digest all of that—at late-night). I wasted no time and stabbed at my steak with my knife and fork.

To say that this rib-eye steak was delicious is an understatement. Unknown ingredients used to cook the incredibly tender meat fused with the spices making up the sauce to create a wonderful explosion of flavor in my mouth! I ordered mine medium, with red wine sauce and baked potato. The meat was soft and juicy enough but I wish I had it cooked rare, so I could have enjoyed a bloodier feast!
Four hundred grams of grilled perfection—I was only halfway through it, my side potato dish was completely ignored, and I was already full! I can’t believe I’m becoming less of a glutton lately! This can’t be happening!

As usual, I swiped at my friend’s food without permission to sample the All-American Burger. It wasn’t too bad—pure beef (a bit too soft that I would have preferred), lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles, with a side of fries –and promises nothing less than All-American goodness. I still think Chili’s was more unforgettable, though.

After our huge and superb meal, I gulped down some beer and just basked in the place’s ambience while catching up with my friend Aleli. I had wanted to eat inside but the intimate lighting would totally ruin my food porn (top priority! LOL). Instead, we stayed outside and enjoyed the cool music being played by the DJ—it was a Thursday, meaning the Dillinger’s crowd was enjoying a Thirst Day! We vowed to come back and take more pleasure in the cozy interior ambience, maybe share a few drinks at the bar area next time.

Thanks to Zomato for the Dillinger’s voucher—a huge discount for such a grand dinner! I will keep on writing useful and substantial reviews and hopefully get more chances to explore more of this foodie nation through their voucher rewards!
