Stranded in Ayala Triangle one rainy night, I sent out an
emergency group message to three of my Makati-employed friends, hoping one of
them would be kind enough to pick me up from my taxi-depleted spot.
Unfortunately, one of them (my best friend) was already home, the other was on
a date with a boyfriend (Finally! Congratulations!!!), and my last and most
dependable “option” -- my savior actually -- was still in Greenbelt. Immediately, I
braved the rain and made my way to the mall which was two blocks away.
We found ourselves in Chili’s, after I declared that I was
craving for T.G.I.Friday’s food (translation: patay-gutom food). Stressed, wet, and famished, I couldn’t pick one
dish from the menu—fortunately, Chili’s had a P999-Food-for-3 promo. We hailed
the server at once.
Chili’s P999-Food-for-3 promo consists of one starter and
two entrée selections. From the available options, we chose the Southwestern
Egg Rolls for appetizer and the Bacon Burger and the Blackened Fish Fillet for
mains. It must be noted that promo was supposed to be good for three—there were
only two of us. The group beside us ordered the same thing and there were four
of them. When our food arrived, I wanted to invite random people for help!
The Southwestern Egg Rolls arrived first and were instantly
attacked. Smoked chicken, black beans, jalapenos, Jack cheese, and red peppers in
flour wraps, served with ranch dressing—the tanginess was absolutely divine!

Shortly after, our mains arrived. I love fish so I ordered
the Blackened Fish Fillet; when I saw it, I knew I made the right choice. The fish
serving was incredibly generous! Pepper-crusted and served with chili ranch
dressing, the dish drove me more and more excited with each bite. Even the pico de gallo that came along with it didn’t
escape my hungry mouth. It was as if I was eating something incredibly precious
that not even a morsel should be wasted.

You think I gave up after my superb fish meal? No way. I had
to sample the Bacon Burger. In order to eat the humungous burger properly, I
had to deconstruct it, saving the bacon for last, of course. For the first
time, I couldn’t eat the top bun because I was already so full! When I bit into
the incredibly flavorful patty, I wanted to kneel down before the waiter and
scream, “I’m not worthy!” I swore that I would never eat burgers anywhere else aside
from Chili’s ever again.
Bacon = HEAVEN |
After our awesome meal, I was so sure that a slight tap on
my tummy would send random ingredients out of my mouth!
Food for 3, consumed by two. :P |
If you’re craving for Southwestern/Tex-Mex food, now is the
right time to head over to one of the Chili’s branches in the Metro: their
promo runs until end of October only. Aside from Greenbelt 5, they have
branches in Greenhills, Tomas Morato, Rockwell, Alabang Town Center, and SM
Megamall.
Chili’s management, if you can read this, please set up a branch in
McKinley Hill! I assure you it would never be empty! I can’t wait to go back and sample their fajitas, baby back ribs, and steaks next
time.
