Laidback Luxury at Under the Stars Boracay

Under The Stars Boracay

In an island famous for its sunsets, waking up to a beautiful sunrise and watching it right on your cozy bed is probably unheard of—but you can actually live to tell about it. Under the Stars Luxury Apartments in Boracay is exactly the haven for that—and more.

Under The Stars Boracay
I have stayed at different properties in Boracay throughout the years—from rowdy, backpacker-style accommodations to family-friendly and romantic resorts—but nothing tops my experience at Under the Stars. Situated in Tambisaan Beach, about 15 minutes away from Station 2, the 5-unit apartment complex is the ultimate beach escape, where you have your own private beachfront; an expansive 3-bedroom apartment with literally all the amenities you could ever need; and a dreamy ocean and sunrise view. It’s the perfect hideaway when you want to escape the touristy parts of Boracay.

The Apartments

Each of Under the Stars’ 4 Presidential apartments (the fifth one is a Penthouse) boasts of 500 sqm of space, fitted with 3 luxurious bedrooms with en suite baths; a fully-furnished, state-of-the-art Noblessa kitchen; an adjoining bar; a spacious dining room; a living room with an adjacent TV room; a laundry room; a guest powder room; and an expansive veranda overlooking the swimming pool and Tambisaan Beach. Everywhere you look, it just feels like a dream.

The dĂ©cor utilizes natural materials and neutral colors, with sudden pops of vibrance from stunning artwork displayed throughout the apartment. It feels very local and modern, elegant but not stuffy, inviting and utterly relaxing. And with windows virtually everywhere, it’s impossible not to find yourself getting lost and just staring at the sea all day.

The Master’s Bedroom is the ultimate jewel of the apartment with its beach-facing King bed and sliding doors that open to the veranda. A lavish bathroom occupies the other half of the room, and believe me, I’ve never seen a bathroom as beautiful as this! Glass separates everything from each other: the toilet area, the walk-in shower, and the bathtub, which, since it faces the opposite side of the bed, offers a sunrise view. There are his-and-hers vanity areas, plenty of closet space, as well as fresh towels and robes.

Two smaller bedrooms have identical designs, each with its own King bed, workstation, balcony, and en suite bathroom. The beds are incredible—probably the best ones I’ve slept in in Boracay.

Those who cook would be salivating over Under the Stars’ kitchen, which is well-equipped for every possible food preparation you could think of. Aside from a microwave and a Gaggenau stove top, it boasts of an indoor grill, an oven, and a full-sized freezer—along with cookware, cutlery, dishwasher, a DeLonghi coffee machine, dishware, and serveware. A variety of glassware is also available so whether you want to serve cocktails to your guests or sip some fine wine while enjoying the view, you have the right vessel for it. So extra!

Enjoy your meal inside the lovely and capacious dining room, but you may also set up outside in the veranda, where there’s more sitting and dining space. Plus how can you say no to beachside dining?

I love that there’s a laundry room where you can wash your clothes, especially if you’re a long-staying guest. Indeed, Under the Stars was designed while keeping in mind what travelers truly need for a convenient and relaxing stay. It’s like having a real home while in Boracay!

When in the mood for extra pampering, ask the butler to arrange an in-room massage for you. I did this and it was the best decision ever. The apartment staff set up a massage bed out in the terrace, and I had a massage right there where I could hear the waves, how it breaks onto the shore; where I could hear the wind and the rustle of the coconut trees. There was a full moon making everything else 10 times more beautiful. I wouldn’t trade it for any other spa experience.

Oh, and did you know why it’s called “Under the Stars”? Because the Penthouse unit has a sliding ceiling that opens up to the night sky. Sounds gorgeous.

In-Room Dining

If you don’t wish to cook while on holiday, worry not as you can order food from their sister hotel, Villa Caemilla Beach Boutique Hotel—which happens to be another personal favorite. The restaurant offers a selection of international fare—from pizzas and pastas to Asian treats like Pork Sisig, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, and Salmon Buckwheat Noodles (below).

We ordered the noodles (which were delicious) as well as some Cheesy Baked Scallops, which we had reheated in the apartment to melt the cheese. SOOO GOOD. And why not indulge in some wine as well while basking in the gorgeous ambience?

Breakfast may be ordered in-room too. I highly recommend The Caemilla, the hotel’s signature breakfast plate composed of a croissant sandwich filled with bacon and scrambled eggs, some grilled tomatoes on the side, spiced potatoes, and fresh fruits. I was also craving for a smoothie after binging on unhealthy food the past days, so I really enjoyed the fresh mango smoothie, which I had topped with more fruits, some shaved almonds, and chia seeds. Imaging having all these delicious food while enjoying the glorious view!

There’s no delivery charge and the prices of the food are the same as when you order them at Villa Caemilla.

Private Chef Service

Level up your meals during your stay by taking advantage of Under the Star’s private chef service. For an extra fee, a professional chef can come to your kitchen and whip up a fantastic lunch or dinner for you. You may opt to shop or bring your own ingredients if you wish (especially if you have special dietary restrictions), but for a hassle-free experience, they can also do the shopping for you.

We were able to experience this during our stay and chef Benjie brought some fresh Lapu-Lapu (grouper) and produce from the market. He prepared our lunch while we drank wine and while I watched him work (always curious with how other people cook, of course). And when he was about to finish, we set up the outdoor table for a truly chill, island-vibe lunch.

He cooked for us some steamed Lapu-Lapu topped with herbs, as well as buttered vegetables and fresh fruits, which he had arranged like how you would see them in a hotel buffet. Delicious local food, an unparalleled view, a cold breeze, wine, friends—what more could you possibly ask for?

Tambisaan Beach

When you’re ready for some sunshine, leave your luxury cave for a while and relax in the outdoor pool. If you’re lucky, you can even have it all to yourself. Sun loungers and cabanas are strewn around the deck, and if you wish to swim in the ocean, it’s just a few steps away.

From Under the Stars’ private beachfront, you can see the other smaller nearby islands, which are visited by tourists as part of packaged island-hopping tours. But rest assured that your peaceful reverie will remain unspoiled.

Take a stroll along the soft, powdery white sands of Tambisaan Beach, enjoy the windy, chill vibe of this area in Boracay, and take a glimpse of the local community not too far away. I loved watching the kids play in the sands—so carefree, simple, and unbothered. In a world where 2-year-olds have iPads, it’s a joy to watch how these local kids enjoy nature instead of being around LCD screens.

Other Services

I love properties like Under the Stars that truly provide bespoke experiences and unmatched, five-star service. Aside from the previously mentioned, here are other things you can avail during your stay:

24/7 butler service
Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi access (the fastest I’ve experienced in Boracay)
Shuttle service to and from anywhere in the island (for an extra fee—you need to book at least a few hours in advance)
Babysitting service (extra fee)
Shopping service (extra fee)

Under The Stars Boracay
Under the Stars Boracay is truly a one-of-a-kind experience—an exclusive stay away from the crowds that is deservedly yours. It’s one of my most unforgettable stays and it will be quite hard to match, to be honest.

Each 3-bedroom apartment can accommodate up to 9 guests, and rates start at PhP19,500 (promo). Round up the family or gang, and just go.
