5 New Sandwiches to Try at Mr. Graham's Sandwich Shop

“Make me a sandwich,” reads a painted sign on the wall of Mr. Graham’s Sandwich Shop in Quezon City. If you have dined in this cozy little spot in Scout Rallos, you will understand (and agree) that this statement—or rather, command—is unavoidable. It’s something that anyone who has tried the Cebuano sandwich or Chris’ homemade apple pie soda would want to demand, upon barging in to the door and approaching whoever is behind the counter. Make me one, please. Pronto.

My love for Mr. Graham’s is such that a simple photo or memory of their sandwiches could make me travel all the way from Bulacan to QC just to get my Cebuano fix. It did happen a few weeks back, and mind you, I was alone—sitting on a corner happily biting into my pan Cubano stuffed with lechon, ham, cheddar, pickled mangoes, and lechon drippings. After that—and after finishing an entire platter of homemade chips—I hopped over to Mrs. Graham’s next door and stuffed myself with macarons. Yes, that’s how addictive their food is.

From the number of visits I've had, I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Graham himself: Chris, the soft-spoken, hands-on owner who cooked up everything himself—from concept to recipes. Just this weekend, he invited me to try 5 new sandwiches he’s launching today—and saying no just wasn’t an option!

The 5 new creations are smaller and more affordable versions of some of Mr. Graham’s premium items—perfect for an everyday lunch or snack choice. These sandwiches are available starting today, and during this introductory week, you can buy them at half the price (buy one take one)! Check them out:

1 | The Cebuanito (PhP125)

This is literally, the Cebuano's baby brother.  Honestly, one Cebuano is too huge for me so this little version is perfect for those who share with me the same favorite from the shop! Instead of Cubano bread though, this kid uses a sweet whole-wheat bun.

2 | Grandma's Crispy Chicken (PhP140)

Crispy chicken sandwiches were the talk of town at the early part of this year. Mr. Graham’s might be late in joining the party, but their version is just as tasty as the others. Here is a simple sandwich with a crunchy chicken patty, topped with house aioli and coleslaw. A guaranteed comfort food!

3 | The Meatball Sub (PhP145)

If you like meatballs, this one is for you. After the Cebuanito, this is my second favorite among the 5 new sandwiches. Homemade juicy and herby Italian meatballs are wedged between a pan Cubano, smothered with tomato sauce, and finished off with gooey mozzarella. Not only is this delicious, it’s so filling as well!

4 | Chicken Parm (PhP150)

This one is a little similar to the Meatball Sub, except that it uses crispy chicken fillet instead of meatballs. For those who love, love, love chicken, this is a good choice!

5 | Grilled Cheese & Shredded Chicken (PhP170)

As if grilled cheese sandwiches aren’t tasty enough, Chris throws in his special homemade barbecue chicken into the mix. Incredibly flavorful pulled barbecue chicken mingle with cheddar, mozzarella, and cream cheese inside two pieces of whole wheat bread. Can I order some tomato soup, please?!

Don’t forget to order Mr. Graham’s signature Apple Pie Soda (PhP100) to pair these sandwiches with, as well as the T.C.P. (Taro, Camote, Potato) Chips (PhP100, unlimited) served with the yummiest ranch dip ever (believe me, you won’t stop popping these chips into your mouth). They also have a selection of Nipa Brew craft beers in the shop—check out the article I wrote on sandwiches and beer pairing here.
