TRAVEL INSPO | 20 Questions with Travel Grammer @iameleimath

The beautiful Cebu, one of the most sought-after destinations in the country, lures travelers not just from the Philippines but from all over the world—but if you're looking for secret spots, place that are beyond what people usually flock to, then you're probably following Cebu-based travel grammer @iameleimath. Originally from Surigao, Elei has a fondness for mountains, waterfalls, and secluded, hard-to-reach beaches, and he shares his adventures on Instagram—via stunning pictures and videos. It's no wonder that his 20k+ followers are always raving about his new posts—oftentimes because of jaw-dropping aerial captures or dramatic videos, and almost always because they (we) have never heard of the featured place before.

I was lucky to have had the chance to work with Elei last summer of 2017 for Best of the Coast Boracay (more about it here), and I am happy to report that he is one of the most talented, promising, and humble creators I have collaborated with. So today, in my second post in the “Travel Inspo” series, who else deserves to be featured than the guy who inspired me to love the outdoors more and to buy my own drone (which I suck at using, LOL)? Let's take a look at my 20 questions with him!

1. What inspires you to create?

What inspires me to create? Life! Undiscovered places, breathtaking memories, these are all worth remembering.

2. What camera(s) do you use?

5. Has a destination ever made you cry because of so much beauty? Which one?

Each and every destination has made me cry, from my heart. Those beauties that make you feel butterflies in your stomach—so much like experiencing first love on every new destination that I have seen for the first time. But it was Norway who really took my heart.

6. Biggest misadventure?

There is no such thing as a misadventure for me, adventure is where you take risks, where it’s okay to make wrong turns, and even bruise your knee. Adventure for me is simply stepping out on your comfort zone.

15. Which sounds more romantic: a tent under the night sky while watching Aurora Borealis or a breakfast aboard a hot air balloon in Cappadocia, Turkey?

Watching the Aurora Borealis, not only because it is in my bucket list, but more importantly, the stars have a lot of stories to tell. Stories that most people does not see, hence the diary of life patented in a pitch black sky.

16. Traveling with an itinerary or spontaneous travel?

I always prefer spontaneous travel, because there are no limits in making memories, let alone remembering them and what you went through on every travel.
