Fab Finds Friday: Chicken, Coffee, and Desserts!

I’m always on the hunt for new cool places to eat and drink. Most of the time, when I find a place I really like, I become attached to it and keep on coming back for more. The same thing goes for food! While I always aim to try everything on my favorite restaurant’s menu, I also tend to order my favorite dishes over and over again!

Below are four of my gastronomic discoveries this week. They are my current objects of affection, and, needless to say, I’ll be devouring them again in the very near future!

1. BBQ Chicken & Beer’s Paris Chicken

Deep-fried wings cooked in a sweet and spicy sauce, and then generously topped with chili! If you like spicy food, this is the thing to try in Chicken & Beer. Order a platter of 6 pieces to (hoard) share, or get the set meal (PhP185) that comes with rice and a side salad. Perfect with an ice-cold beer indeed!

I’m not a huge fan of Korean food, but chicken is always safe choice. BBQ Chicken & Beer’s rendition is certainly one of the best. Two words for Bon Chon: Suck It. (Three words: Shut Down, Please.)

2. Cheesecake, etc.’s Belgian Double Cream

Belgian Double Cream, PhP150
One night, while waiting for my dance partner to arrive at the studio, I got so hungry and found myself scouring the streets of Greenhills. I stumbled upon the little branch of Cheesecake, etc. and immediately asked the server for anything with cream cheese in it. The closest thing to what I was looking for was their Belgian Double Cream: cream cheese, sour cream filling on top of a Graham crumb base. I was originally craving for a heavy rice meal, but I ended up having dessert and black coffee. Not the heavy meal I was originally craving for, but an awesome discovery! Nothing fuels an intense dance practice better than a luscious dessert!

3.  Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s Espresso Cream

I’m addicted to coffee: black, barako, ice-blended, frappe – even the instant, vending machine types! I need it to jumpstart my day, and keep my brain working. My coffee choices are dictated more by my brain’s needs than by my taste buds’ preference. CBTL’s Espresso Cream climbs to my Top 3 How-to-be-a-Palpitating-Zombie Coffee: CBTL as Second Runner-up, Dunkin Donuts Café’s Double Chocolate as First Runner-up, and Starbucks’ Iced White Mocha America as the Champion.

4.  Stickhouse’s gelato popsicles

half-milk, half-dark chocolate gelato stick, PhP70
Stickhouse is owned by the same company running Ristorante Bigoli. In the Zomato foodieevent held in Bigoli a few weeks back, I got to try Stickhouse’s gelato popsicles and fell in love with them! All-natural, and made of imported products from Italy. Can’t wait to try more flavors!
